Eagle’s Wing is owned by Chris and Jane Mead in Mesa, Arizona. We started our kennel as a hobby we could share as our six children start to leave the nest (or so we hope!). We have always had a love for the bully breeds. Twenty-five years ago (before the kids) we bred, raised, trained and showed American Pit Bull Terriers. Although we enjoyed our years of fun showing and breeding these awesome dogs, our work and family obligations had to take first position, and we shifted to just a pet home.
As the kids became older, we decided to try our hand at breeding again, but chose a smaller terrier breed -- the Rat Terrier. We bred several litters of great pet quality Rat Terriers, but ultimately longed for our bully friends. That’s when we got our first American Bulldog, Crazy Cooter. We never had any intention of showing or breeding Cooter -- he was just a pet. He is a wonderful companion and vigilant protector of our home. And he settled in well with our retired Rat Terrier brood bitch, Princess.
After about eight years of loving our AB Cooter, and given Princess’ advancing age, we decided to add another AB to our family and we purchased Ella from Souza’s American Bulldogs. It didn’t take long for us to decide we wanted to get back into showing, training and breeding, and we embarked on developing a program that we think will benefit the breed and produce some fine working, as well as companion, animals.
It is our goal to be breed ambassadors, and hope that everyone who seeks to purchase a pup from us will feel the same way. We intend to build our kennel based on lines that have proven to be clear headed, stable dogs with level temperaments, but who still have heart and drive to be good working dogs. We thank our many good friends -- other breeders, owners and trainers -- that we have met along the way for their guidance and support in our effort to promote our kennel and our dogs. We also appreciate those people who have gone before us that have invested serious amounts of time, energy, money, heart, and perhaps their sanity, in the effort to produce consistently better bulldogs. It is our sincere desire to do the same.
